What is Vitamin D? // The so-called sunshine vitamin is essential for good health. But it is not a vitamin; it is actually a hormone. A vitamin is a substance that we need but can’t make, we have to get it from our diet. Vitamin D is produced in our skin under the influence of UV light. It is altered in the liver to 25-hydroxyvitamin D – which is we measure when you have a blood test for vitamin D. The active form is made in the kidneys (calcitriol) and that does the business! Creatine is naturally-occurring amino acid. It was first discovered in the 19th century and is made from three other amino acids – arginine, glycine, and methionine. The body stores energy as creatine phosphate. This produces adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Everything your body does from thinking to muscle contraction needs energy, and that ultimately comes from ATP. We need around 3 grams of creatine per day.
